EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS


ELEMENTARY: GRADES K-4

35-40 min. 

An exciting and fun presentation of “What is Chamber Music” with concepts of improvisation and participatory elements giving young listeners a chance to participate in age-appropriate levels of music creation and storytelling. 


MIDDLE SCHOOL/JR. HIGH: GRADES 5-8

40-45 min. 

This presentation expands ideas of “What is Chamber Music” with historical and storytelling context appropriate for the pre-teen audience while providing opportunities for improvisation and composition.


HIGH SCHOOL: GRADES 9-12

55-60 min.

Extends ideas of “What is Chamber Music” with the “Music that Connects Us” program. This engaging program gives ample opportunity for inquiry and participation - performances can include clinics for instrumental music students or young composers. Topics include: improvisation - both jazz and non-jazz/sound exploration, chamber music rehearsal and performance techniques, woodwind and percussion specific topics, composition and arranging. Inspiring demonstrations broaden possibilities for music expression

COLLEGE: UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE LEVEL

Performances include all available program formats.

Accompanying masterclass/clinic/workshop address varied topics to include:

  • arranging for unique instrumentation and styles 

  • improvisation - especially non-jazz and sound exploration

  • entrepreneurship and promotion

  • organization, interpersonal skills and communication, especially within the chamber music setting

  • woodwind and percussion focused topics

  • workshops with composition students - playing drafts of compositions by students written for the Hot Wrk instrumentation.
